College Milestones

The College has made a number of Key Milestones since construction began in Mid-2021. This includes the following;

Completion and handing over of the three sections of the College; The Local student Koiyaki Campus, the Edu-Tourism Camp and the research section on 3rd March 2023

An Official launch attended by stakeholders and partners in the landscape in April,2024

Over 1000 community members attended, Tourism partners, MMWCA, KWCA, The Maa Trust, Mara Elephant Project, Government representatives, Maasai Mara University, Narok County government rep, Local Media coverage and other partners in attendance

Licensing and accreditation of 5 courses of the College by the Kenya government body tasked with registering all colleges, TVETA. We were honored to receive our license during the offficial launch in 2024.

Receiving of the first ever guests at the Edu Camp section on the 6th March 2023

We received our 2 nd cohort of students for the 2024/2025 Academic Year on the 7th October.

Hosting the first Board of Trustees meeting of the college on the 21st April 2023

WTC Impact Matrix

The Wildlife Tourism College of Maasai Mara (WTC) is an avenue for training and skills development. The Skills developed will result in gainful employment for the youth. The Impact created will result in improved livelihoods for the local community. In addition, the skills developed and monetized being related to conservation, the youth who form the critical mass for future conservation efforts will internalize the need for biodiversity conservation. The College offers courses, training, local community sensitization and an avenue for research on climate change related solutions.

The College aims to have trained 120 students in various programs in 3 Years

The College aims to have at least 50% of its graduates earning a livelihood through employment in the Wildlife tourism industry

The College aims to have hosted at least 15 Community workshops/meetings/conferences that are of a conservation nature

We aim to have all the 6 academic programs running with all the necessary resourcing that includes equipment, qualified teachers, labs, books and all the extended learning requirements and the necessary accreditation of the programs in place.

Local Community members earning a livelihood through doing business with the College- Includes suppliers of milk, meat, eggs, vegetables, dry foods and labor

Active stakeholder engagement- research community, tourism partners, donors, government and local community through meetings, media platforms and other forums

Very high Student demand to join the College- with 400-500 applications this will be a good indicator
